Rig Log

Your logs never leave your phone. Rig Log has no accounts, no sign-in and no server of its own. Your duty records, notes and photos are stored on your iPhone and are never transmitted. The app does collect anonymous usage statistics, described below, so we can see which parts of it work and which don't — that data contains nothing you typed and nothing that identifies you.

What Rig Log stores, and where

Everything you enter — duty status changes, events, notes, photos you attach, inspection reports and your driver and carrier details — is written to a database on your iPhone. It is covered by your device's own encryption and by whatever passcode or biometric lock you use.

None of it is uploaded. There is no Rig Log account and no Rig Log server to upload it to.

Anonymous usage statistics

Rig Log uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count how the app is used, so we can tell which features earn their place and where people get stuck. What that means concretely:

What is sent: which screens you open, which buttons you use to log an entry, whether a reminder was acted on, and whether a subscription screen led to a purchase. Each of these is a fixed event name from a short, published list — never free text.
What is never sent: your duty logs, your notes, place names you typed, photos, your name, your carrier, your truck number, or anything else from your record. The log is the one thing this app exists to protect, and none of it is transmitted.
No advertising identifier. The app is built against the version of the Analytics library that has the IDFA code removed entirely, so it cannot read your advertising identifier even in principle. The identifier-for-vendor is switched off too.
No tracking, no ads. Ad personalisation, ad storage and ad user data are all disabled. Nothing is shared with data brokers or advertising networks, and Rig Log does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
No account to attach it to. Firebase assigns a random per-install identifier so repeat sessions from one phone can be counted once. It is not your Apple Account, not your device's serial number, and is not linked to your identity — because the app never learns your identity.

Deleting the app removes that identifier. You can also stop the collection entirely by turning off Allow Apps to Request to Track-style analytics sharing in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, or simply by not using the app.

Subscriptions and payment

Rig Log Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Purchases, renewals, refunds and cancellations are handled entirely by Apple.

Rig Log never sees or receives your payment card, billing address, or Apple Account credentials.
The app asks Apple only whether a valid subscription exists for this device, so it knows whether to unlock paid features.
Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

You can view or cancel a subscription at any time in Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone.

Notifications

If you turn on rest and limit reminders, Rig Log schedules notifications locally on your device using iOS's notification system. The reminders are calculated on the phone from the log you have already entered. Nothing is sent to a server and no push notifications are delivered from outside your device.

Sharing and exporting your records

You can export a Record of Duty Status or an eight-day record — for example to hand to an inspector at a roadside stop, or to send to your carrier. Exporting is always something you start. The file is written on your device and passed to the standard iOS share sheet, where you choose the destination.

Once you send a record somewhere, that destination's own privacy terms apply. Rig Log has no visibility into, or control over, what happens to a file after you share it.

Location

Rig Log does not request or use location services. Any place names in your log are text you typed yourself.

Children

Rig Log is a commercial-driver tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Your control over your data

See it: everything the app holds is visible in the app itself.
Export it: use the export options on the Compliance tab.
Delete it: delete individual entries in the app, or delete the app to remove all of its data from your device.

Your records exist only on your phone, so deleting the app deletes them outright — there is no copy of your log held anywhere for us to return or erase. The anonymous usage statistics described above are not tied to you and cannot be traced back to an individual, so there is no personal analytics record to retrieve either.

A note about compliance

Rig Log is a manual logbook. It is not a registered Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and does not connect to a vehicle's engine control module. It is intended for drivers operating under an exemption from the ELD mandate. You remain responsible for the accuracy of your own records.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with a new date at the top. Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect substantive changes.
